Darik's Boot and Nuke
Darik's Boot and Nuke ("DBAN") is a self-contained boot floppy that securely wipes the hard disks of most computers. DBAN will automatically and completely delete the contents of any hard disk that it can detect, which makes it an appropriate utility for bulk or emergency data destruction.

Errata
- Notwithstanding driver problems, there are no known defects in the dban-1.0.1 or dban-1.0.2 or dban-1.0.3 releases.
- Some 9 gigabyte Seagate and Quantum SCSI disks report more sectors than are actually on the disk. DBAN treats these disks as defective and will abort at the end of the first pass. You can check whether you have one of these disks by booting with a DOS floppy and writing to the last sector with a hex editor. I will need a sample of the hardware to fix this problem.
The time stamp in the dwipe log file can be behind the hardware clock by one month. (Unreproducable.)
